The new 'normal' - outdoor training for futsal took place this week at Rowley Lane Sports Ground, Borehamwood for the first week of the ProFutsal London Academy Courses. The new 4G rubbercrumb was utilised as Government Guidelines in England still waiver post-pandemic over indoor facilities, and this allowed us to work on lots of different elements to improve the whole player.
England U19 Futsal Captain and England Senior Player Jared Rand delivering Perceptual Awareness components
Over 70 individuals from U9 to U18 came to develop their ball mastery, perceptual awareness and game related principles to become a more well-rounded futsal AND football player.
From skilful progressions to game related principles developing their 1v1 and 2v2 components to the much coveted Sports Science zone, the whole player was put to the test to improve cognitively, physically and technically. Monday was a tough learning curve to find the balance between intensity and learning vs enjoyment and challenges, but this was tailored throughout the week to be able to give the best possible experience.
Players put through their paces in the Sports Science Zone
We were fortunate to have England internationals Russell Goldstein and Jared Rand on hand to deliver some sessions, and they were able to divulge their knowledge to provide an holistic experience and demonstrate what it takes to get to the highest level. The elder players got to develop the tactical side of the game under the stewardship of first team Manager Juan Tapia-Owens as he looks to see who can make the step-up this coming season for the Development Team who will now be playing in the #NationalFutsalSeries Tier 2 and who might be pushing for a place to join the littered First Team.
